Ground Movements

What are ground movements?

Ground movements are body weight movements done on the ground, or that get you up and down from the ground. They include:

  • Rolling
  • Sitting
  • Crawling
  • Squatting
  • Get-ups (transitions from sitting or lying to standing).

Why are ground movements so important?

Ground movements are the foundation of all other movements. There is a reason that the above list looks so similar to the progression in movement made by an infant.

The strength and mobility required to do everything listed above will improve your walking, running, lifting, climbing, swimming and all other movements in your life.

Ground movements can be done anywhere!

Where there is a ground, you can do ground movements. It’s the ultimate portable exercise!
